GoodGym, a national charity that does good whilst getting fit is making a comeback in Ipswich and wants you to dust off those trainers and get involved!
GoodGymers walk, run and cycle to help out their local community; it’s free to join and open to all adults of all fitness levels. Good Gym caters to all abilities and its encouraging atmosphere makes it the perfect place to start moving without the intimidation (and costly membership) of a typical gym environment. Plus, each task earns you a ‘good deed’ and a great workout – which is great for wellbeing too. Tasks could involve tree planting, litter picking, painting a community centre, helping out a food bank – the list of ways GoodGym can help is endless.
To relaunch GoodGym, join us on Tuesday 14th February from 10.30am until 12.30pm for some celebratory tree planting at Gippeswyk Park, part of #IpswichLovesTrees Celebrations. In addition to tree planting, a new play area will also be opening. All the tools will be provided so just wearing sensible footwear and clothing! Come get to know more about GoodGym, ask questions and eat cake!
Diana, GoodGym beneficiary, says “It’s wonderful, it really is wonderful. It’s a lifesaving service you’re providing. I can’t praise your volunteers highly enough, you helping me helps me to help myself.”
But to reach more people like Diana, and make a difference, GoodGym needs you!
- Do you know community projects or organisations that need volunteer help?
- Would you like the feel-good factor of making a difference in your community?
- Do you need extra motivation and friendly faces to support you on your fitness and wellbeing journey?
If you answered ‘yes’ to any of these questions, you would make a great GoodGymer!
