Thanks to the East Anglian Daily Times for featuring another of our campaign champions, Gary Edwards in today’s paper (23 April)
Gary and his wife Wendy (pictured above) started an initiative to keep residents fit during the coronavirus lockdown, as part of their support of Keep Moving Suffolk and have seen more than 100 people sign up to their marathon challenge, supporting great causes in the process.
Ex-soldier and fitness enthusiast Gary Edwards created the ‘April Fools Ultra Marathon’ to encourage people to stay active while they are stuck at home.
Participants paid a £5 fee to sign up and were challenged to walk or run a small distance each day throughout April, eventually completing a full 27 miles, with proceeds going to East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH).
Gary said, “I’m supporting this campaign to help show people that even a small amount of exercise can be hugely beneficial to both body and mind especially during these difficult times.”
