The ‘voucher’ difference
June 10, 2021

Christopher Grover from Suffolk…

I’m one of those people who would say that they never win anything and it’s largely true, so it was all the more surprising when Love to Ride got in touch to let me know that I’d won a £50 voucher.

How exciting…I’m guilty of tending to target any bike related spend on new things – a different bikepacking bag, something shiny to bolt on, a ridiculously expensive bottle cage, etc.

However on this occasion as I was able to choose where the voucher came from (Elmy’s, my favourite Ipswich bike shop).

I decided that I would use it for something less glamorous, but more practical – a wheel service!

I’ve got a pair of decent enough Campag wheels, but the bearings and freehub were seized or running ‘rough as anything’ so it was off to Elmys with the wheels.

A week later and a sunny Saturday afternoon and it was time to try out the wheels.

As expected they ran as if they were new – silent, smooth and speedy.

It’s probably the best fifty quid that I’ve spent on my cycling in the last few years, it’s had the most impact out of anything and it’s helped me start putting in the miles.

Thank you Love to Ride and Suffolk County Council.
